FPA Sri Lanka participates at the "Mahajana Suwadhana” International Healthcare Exhibition 2017

The National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka in partnership with the Ceylon College of Physicians and the Ministry of Health, Nutrition & Indigenous Medicine organised the “Mahajana Suwadhana” International Healthcare Exhibition & Medical Symposium on the 14, 15 & 16 July 2017 at the BMICH.

Spanning over 3 days, the exhibition showcased the standard of health care in Sri Lanka, highlighting the available diagnostic facilities, supportive care, future developments and provided health education to the public on common medical conditions.

Whilst increasing visibility of the services rendered by FPA Sri Lanka to the community, the stall managed by the Sales and Marketing Programme (SMP ) at this event, served as an awareness platform, through which visitors had the opportunity of obtaining information on family planning, sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and Sexual and Reproductive Health.

Launch of the “I decide campaign” 2017

At this event, the Public Affairs, Policy and Advocacy Unit of FPA Sri Lanka launched International Planned Parenthood Federation’s (IPPF)” I Decide” 2017 campaign calling for universal and equitable access to contraception. The worldwide campaign centers around a vision that “No one should be forced into pregnancy” and is part ofIPPF’s Vision 2020 call to action to world leaders tosupport universal access to contraception.

The statistics are staggering. This year 85 million women and girls will be forced into pregnancy – because they are denied the contraceptive care they want and need. 214 million women and girls around the world want access to contraception but can't get it. And, it’s the world’s poorest women who are most likely to be forced into pregnancy. You can help change that. Support universal access to contraception!
