FPA joins National Steering Committee on Menstrual Health

We’re thrilled to share that FPA participated in a pivotal consultative meeting with the National Working Committee, in partnership with the Ministry of Health and nine other stakeholder ministries. The focus? Advancing menstrual health and hygiene under the theme: ‘Working Together to Improve Menstrual Health and Environmental Impact in Sri Lanka.’

‘I am honoured to be appointed for two years as a member of the National Steering Committee. The Ministry of Health, Additional Secretary Public Health Services, Dr. Lakshmi Somatunga chaired the meeting and the Health Promotion Bureau was the focal point of the meeting. The appointment letters were given by Dr. P.G. Mahipala, Secretary Ministry of Health’. - Ms. Sonali Gunasekera, Director of Advocacy.

FPA is actively contributing to this effort through the Collective Action Against Period Poverty (The CAAPP Project), a collaboration with the French Embassy and 13 dedicated NGOs. This project aims to improve menstrual health, combat period poverty, and eliminate the stigma and discrimination associated with #menstruation.
